What actually happened
In August 2014, hackers broke into private online accounts (mainly iCloud/email) of several celebrities. Private photos—including intimate ones—of multiple celebrities, including Jennifer Lawrence, were stolen and spread online without consent. The images quickly spread across forums and websites, becoming one of the biggest celebrity hacking scandals ever.
Jennifer Lawrence’s response
She strongly condemned it, calling it a “sex crime” and a serious violation of privacy. She described the experience as “unbelievably violating” and said it took a long time to process emotionally.
What happened to the hackers
Several people involved were later caught and sentenced to prison for hacking and unauthorized access.
Important note
Those images were private and stolen, so sharing or searching for them contributes to that violation.
