Who he is

Cole Tomas Allen is a 31-year-old man from Torrance, California (USA).  Reports describe him as a teacher with a background in engineering or computer science. 

What happened

On April 25, 2026, he was identified as the suspected gunman in a shooting incident at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington, D.C.  The shooting did NOT happen inside the White House itself — it occurred at the Washington Hilton hotel, where the event was being held.  He reportedly approached a security checkpoint with multiple weapons (including firearms and knives). 

During the attack

He opened fire near the entrance/security area.  A Secret Service officer was hit, but survived because of a bulletproof vest.  The President and top officials were quickly evacuated, and no guests were killed. 

Arrest & situation

Allen was immediately apprehended at the scene.  Authorities believe he acted alone (“lone wolf”), and investigations are still ongoing to determine his motive.
